Open Access Policy Statement – Journal of Humanities and Education Development (JHED)

The Shillonga Publication – Journal of Humanities and Education Development (JHED) strongly supports the principles of open access and the global dissemination of research. All articles published in JHED are made freely and permanently available to readers worldwide through its online platform (ijhed.com) at no cost to the reader or the institution. This includes unrestricted access for individual users, academic institutions, libraries, and other organizations.

Under this policy, users are permitted to:

•  Read, download, copy, distribute, and print the full texts of JHED articles.

• Search, link to, and share article URLs in teaching, research, and public communication.

• Use the content for any other lawful, non‑commercial or commercial purpose, provided the licensing terms are respected. 

No prior permission is required from the publisher or the author to exercise these rights, as long as proper attribution is given.

This open access model aligns with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access, which emphasizes free, immediate, online availability of research outputs, along with the right to use and reuse these works fully.

JHED operates on a continuous publishing model, meaning articles are published online as soon as they are finalized and formally accepted, rather than being grouped into traditional print issues. This ensures that research findings are made available to the global community without delay.

All articles published in JHED are made immediately open access upon publication. There are no embargoes or subscription barriers, and the content remains freely accessible to all users indefinitely.

Open Access Licensing Policy

JHED applies an open access licensing framework based on the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0) (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Under this license, users are free to:

• Share – copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

• Adapt – remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

However, these freedoms are granted under the following conditions:

• Attribution – You must give appropriate credit to the original author(s), provide a link to the original article, and indicate if changes were made. This may be done in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor (or the journal/publisher) endorses you or your use.

• No additional restrictions – You may not apply legal terms or technological measures (such as restrictive digital rights management or paywalls) that legally limit others from doing anything the license permits.

By default, authors retain the copyright to their work, and the CC BY 4.0 license allows the broadest possible reuse while ensuring that authors receive proper recognition for their contributions.

This Open Access policy reflects JHED’s commitment to transparency, equity, and the advancement of humanities and education research through the free circulation of knowledge.
